Imagine That!!! A Discovery Museum for Children, Florham Park, NJ

Editor’s Note: We sent Karin and her friend to review Imagine That! She had a great time and shares a bunch of great pictures of this 16,000 sq. ft space. Imagine That was completely renovated, the only big item that remains is the Fire Truck, most of the rest is all new!

IMAGINE THAT!!! is located on 4 Vreeland Road, Florham Park; Open Tuesday to Sunday (Hours are from 10-4:30 most days; Sat. Sun. 10-5:30) Make sure you call or check their website for changes in their hours. They have a calendar in their front page, which updates regularly.

Some new things- layout is completely different, open layout so you can keep track of your kids unlike the old museum.  They allow STROLLERS now, no doubles, but single strollers are allowed making it much easier on mom and dad.  2 Jungle Gyms! Pirate ship is brand new!

OLD HISTORICAL POST BELOW:

Imagine That!!! is one of our favorite places to go. They have 50 plus exhibits in a clean, safe indoor environment with only one way in or out so you don’t have to worry about little escape artists.

The kids LOVE exploring the pirate ship, the real fire truck, plane, little VW bug and “riding” on the motorcycle too. My children have been known to spend hours in the pretend grocery store ringing up cart after cart of produce and dry goods. My youngest loves to watch the train go around and they all enjoy the art and music areas and the indoor sandbox. The sand box is also cleverly hidden in the back of the museum so you can easily skip it if it’s not your thing.

If you haven’t been there in a while there are several new exhibits. A “pet recovery center” with cages and animals and fun stuff to doctor your furry friends. There’s a big new castle where the spaceship used to be and an indoor playground with lots of tunnels and climbing.

There is a ton of hands-on-activity in this museum and NO video games! There’s a cute cafe with kid friendly food and snacks (no outside food and beverages are allowed here) and there are slot cars you can rent and race very inexpensively. Check their calendar often for special events and actvities including seasonal crafts. There are daily puppet shows which are adorable too and this is a great place for a birthday party.

Both Sheila and I have had parties here and were very pleased! Check out the pictures below too — they’ve newly re-painted and decorated all their party rooms.

If you have a very small one please make note of their no stroller policy and plan accordingly.

For complete information, see their website.

Have you checked out all our other indoor play areas? We have included a map of all NJ indoor playgrounds, NJ children museums, even mcdonalds playlands and chuck e. cheeses in NJ and all your recommendations in one page. Check it out!
