One touching story out of thousands out there… my friend, Eva Abreu shared this from her friend Chris: “”Today was one of the most humbling days of my life. I was joined by my children and friends to dismantle my beloved beach house. Our hearts were heavy as we packed what we could salvage onto a rental truck until we can figure out where we go from here and what we need to do to make things right. Throughout the day we were approached by complete strangers who offered to help lug, lift and carry the dripping wet contents from out home. Other drove around offering dunkin donuts, fresh baked cookies, pizza and and coffee. Finally, tonight as we were locking up, wet, tired, and beat down a car pulled up from Saint Mary’s Church. Out popped a man and his son offering us dinner a hot dinner from Joe Leone’s. My Joe said we are ok, and the man looked at him and said no your not. You look like you need a hot meal to warm you. I NEVER thought I would be on the receiving end of a volunteer. I am ALWAYS the volunteer. I can tell you that there is nothing more humbling and wonderful as being touched by a random act of kindness from another person. I never realized the impact that I had on those I helped until tonight when I become the person who was helped by someone who felt the need to do something so someone else. I hope next week brings with it some peace, comfort and the strength to move forward. Good night all.”
