Biggest Best Playgrounds Indoor Playgrounds

Hopatcong State Park, Landing

1 Lakeside Blvd, Landing, NJ.  What a great NJ Park!  Very expansive, and on the southern tip of Lake Hopatcong is a great beach where you can bathe and relax, and there are also 2 playground in the area, plus plenty of shady places to grill (some are very steep though)  Well unfortunately my computer is not cooperating with these pictures, so I’ll upload them later. If you were to see the pictures you’ll see a pretty view, an active concession stand, and 2 playgrounds.

The big draw for my kids is playing in the sand and the water of course, which that day was pretty shallow perfect for my toddler and pre-schooler.  I stayed back on the beach with a sleepy baby… No trash collection so they give you a plastic garbage bag with your license plate written on it with a sharpie marker to make sure you cart out your trash. There is a $10 entrance fee per vehicle on the weekends.  For weekday it is $6 according to the state site Pictures below!

Winter Update: There is also some great sledding here too, I loved this video I found on youtube that shows a couple tubing down the hill, check it out:

We went in mid-July. It was very crowded, with not one grill free, but the beach was still pleasant and the shallow water is nice with little kids. There is a dam next to the beach that was interesting to walk over to and investigate.

I live about a 5 min walk from this park and yes, it is wonderful, but SO crowded in the summer. Usually fills to capacity by 10:00 a.m. Word to the wise though — there is only admission charged in the summer season. If you can get here after Labor Day before Memorial Day, the park is free (but there’s no swimming).
