Thanks to Cory Booker, Bari Mattes, Rose Farias who via twitter was able to hook me up with the lowdown on Newark Parks. Great to chat with a Newark dad at this park, wish you luck in finding employment in the graphic design world. The upside of being unemployed is spending time with the kids, I

Maple Pl. and Vreeland Avenue, Nutley, NJ. For detailed Nutley Parks and Recs information on the web click here. So far I think I’ve enjoyed this beautiful playground in Memorial Park the most for feeding ducks. A couple of playground structures, plenty of swings and a very picturesque walking path adds to the attraction of

Belleville Avenue and Parkview Avenue, Belleville, NJ.
Belleville Park belongs to Essex County and borders Branch Brook Park. If you are looking for the playground in Branch Brook, the maps at Branch Brook don’t help much. I spent the day touring Branch Brook Park, all over with my trio, not to find the

Valley Street between Oakland Road & Oakland Avenue, Maplewood, NJ. (Playground really closer to Oakland Avenue though)
Logistics: Although it is right by the train station, there is no accessibility for the disabled. Right across from the Firehouse. Sign on nearby building says No Public Restrooms, but I hear there is a pizza place across the

298 Walton Avenue, South Orange, NJ. Very close to Maplewood border.
Small nice shady park, and red tubes give kids plenty of opportunity to crawl through them. A few spaces for parking and it was pretty quiet when we went. Less popular than Memorial Park in Maplewood, also targeted for littler kids though you could argue

41 Chestnut Street, Montclair, NJ. This Montclair park is adjacent to the Essex Park Pool and skating ice rink. Cross Chestnut Street for the other facilities of Essex Park. A shady spot, with slides and swings and picnic tables, check out our pics, it’s a little less popular than the bigger parks.
About a mile away

20 Edgemont Rd, Montclair, NJ. One of the biggest playgrounds in the area along with Brookdale, this one provides plenty of structures to entertain your children. Including the great spider web structure, and plenty of slides, this playground is also fenced in. No permanent bathrooms, but there are 2 port-a-potties. Parking is on the street.

Bay Avenue and Broad St., Bloomfield, NJ. Many thanks for this review and great photos from AT Cholet!!!
Street parking is on Morris Place behind the park. The Third River in the background often has lots of ducks and geese and occasionally enough water to justify being called a river. There is no fence, which means

650 Pleasant Valley Way, West Orange, NJ. A great playground nearby a peaceful lake. For both pre-school and school-age children, my kids enjoyed it very much. Very popular, and fun for climbers. Swings slides, bouncy seat/characters and fencing. Friendly crowd was there when we went. If you are in this area, it is worth the
