Garretson Forge & Farm, Fair Lawn NJ

by | 0 comments

A farm owned by a family since the early 18th century it is on the National Register of Historic places.

A real treasure!

They have a butterfly garden that one can visit and they do reenactments and museum tours. After all it is a forge as well as a farm.

Something to note is that there are no bathrooms unless the museum is open. It’s very interesting to learn about how they lived 200 -300 hundred years ago.

Worth seeing.

  • This place is so peaceful, I pass by there every other time, the butterfly garden is one my fave spots.

  • A small piece of history along the Passaic River. They host re-enactments and museum tours as well as a nice seed bank. Parking is limited. No bathroom unless the museum is open.

  • I went with my wife to take a weekend tour (1-4pm, every 2nd & 4th Sunday) of the grounds. Laura & April were wonderful hosts. They were so sweet and welcoming. I had a fantastic time and will definitely go back. I really enjoyed the Colonial garden and the hearth kitchen!

  • Very educational of the way of life how living, preparing food, recommend to go.
